The Palestine International Center in Bourj al-Barajneh refugee camp invites Palestinian and Lebanese volunteers from across Lebanon to join us in building an active community space dedicated to Palestinian culture, education, social life, youth activities and the struggle for rights, return and liberation. Whether you can volunteer regularly, help with a particular program or event, or contribute a specific skill, we welcome you to become part of the Center and help develop its work.

The Center belongs first and foremost to the community it serves, and we want Palestinian youth, women, students, workers, professionals, artists, athletes, educators and organizers to take an active role in shaping its programs. Volunteering can include tutoring and education, children’s and youth activities, sports, arts and cultural programs, media and communications, photography and video, translation, technology, vocational training, research, community outreach, programs for women and girls, and helping to organize events and visiting delegations.

We also warmly welcome Lebanese volunteers who want to work alongside Palestinians in strengthening the historic bonds and joint struggle for liberation shared among the Lebanese and Palestinian people. The Center seeks to create opportunities for genuine cooperation and exchange, bringing together people from the camps and the wider Lebanese community around shared cultural, educational and social initiatives. Lebanese volunteers can contribute professional and practical skills, participate in joint activities, support educational and cultural programs, and help challenge the discrimination and isolation experienced by Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

You do not need to be part of an organization or have previous volunteer experience to participate. Students and young people are especially encouraged to get involved, and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

International Volunteers

The Palestine International Center invites international volunteers, as well as Palestinians and Arabs living around the world in exile and diaspora, to join us in Bourj al-Barajneh refugee camp in Beirut, Lebanon, and contribute their time, skills and experience to our programs and activities.

Our work is grounded in the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to return to their homes and lands in Palestine, while supporting refugees in confronting marginalization, discrimination and the pressures of displacement. We seek to build meaningful connections between Palestinians in the camps, Palestinians throughout the diaspora, the wider Arab community, and international movements and communities that stand with the Palestinian people.

We welcome volunteers who want to contribute to this work while learning directly from Palestinian refugees and the communities of the camps. Depending on your skills, experience and the Center’s current needs, volunteer activities may include English and other language education; youth and children’s activities; sports and recreation; arts, music and cultural programming; media, photography and video; translation and interpretation; research and writing; technology and digital skills; vocational workshops; programs with Palestinian women; and support for events, international delegations and community initiatives.

Volunteering at the Palestine International Center is also an opportunity for Palestinians living abroad to deepen their relationships with Palestinian refugee communities in Lebanon. We encourage Palestinian youth and members of the diaspora to spend time in the camps, exchange experiences and knowledge, build lasting relationships, and participate in preserving and developing a shared Palestinian national identity across borders and generations. We likewise invite Arabs from throughout the diaspora to contribute to rebuilding the bonds of solidarity and common struggle that continue to define Palestine as an Arab cause.

Volunteer placements may range from short visits and specific workshops to longer periods of participation, depending on the needs of the Center and the availability and experience of volunteers. Individuals, student groups, educators, artists, athletes, researchers, cultural workers and members of solidarity organizations are all encouraged to contact us with proposals for how they would like to contribute.
