Palestine International Center Salutes International Dockworkers’ Day of Action Against War and Militarization

30 October 2026 | Bourj al-Barajneh Refugee Camp, Beirut, Lebanon
The Palestine International Center, based in Bourj al-Barajneh Palestinian refugee camp in Beirut, Lebanon, expresses its full solidarity with the International Day of Action of Dockworkers and Port Workers Against War and Militarization on 30 October 2026. We salute the workers and trade unions organizing strikes and mobilizations affecting more than 100 ports across the world, standing together to declare that ports must serve the people, not war, occupation and genocide.
From Marseille to Tangier, Genoa to Piraeus, and Mersin to ports across the globe, dockworkers have demonstrated the power of organized labor to confront the machinery of war. We particularly salute those workers who have refused to load, unload or facilitate the shipment of weapons from the United States, Britain and Europe to the Zionist regime, taking direct action in their workplaces to stand with the Palestinian people and to stop the ongoing genocide.
These actions carry particular significance for our people in Gaza and throughout occupied Palestine, who continue to confront genocide, destruction, displacement and occupation. The ports and docks of the world must not be transformed into logistical centers for genocide, facilitating the transportation of weapons and military equipment that are used to kill Palestinian children, destroy our communities and attack the peoples of Lebanon, Yemen and Iran.
We recognize that the struggle of dockworkers is not separate from the broader struggle of working people against exploitation, capitalism and imperialism. Workers who organize against militarization, defend their livelihoods and refuse to participate in the transportation of weapons are demonstrating that international solidarity is a collective power capable of taking meaningful, direct action to confront the systems of war profiteering and genocide trade.
As a Palestinian community institution rooted in the refugee camps of Lebanon, we call for ongoing solidarity with Palestinian workers. In Gaza, Palestinian workers, including fishers, dock workers, and those whose livelihoods depend on the sea, have faced devastating attacks on their lives, workplaces, infrastructure and means of survival. Across occupied Palestine, workers confront restrictions on movement, land confiscation, military violence and economic deprivation.
Here in Lebanon, Palestinian refugees continue to be denied the right to work. We are excluded from dozens of professions, while simultaneously being denied our fundamental right to return to their homeland. Generations of Palestinian workers have contributed their labor, skills and knowledge, even as we are denied the civil, social and economic rights that enable us to sustain our steadfastness. Our struggle for dignified work is inseparable from our struggle for liberation, justice and return.
The Palestine International Center calls for lasting and growing cooperation between international labor unions, organized workers and Palestinian workers inside occupied Palestine, in the refugee camps of Lebanon, and throughout exile and diaspora. We hope that this historic day of action will strengthen enduring relationships of mutual solidarity, bringing together workers across borders in defense of their common rights and in opposition to genocide, war and exploitation.
From Bourj al-Barajneh refugee camp, we extend our gratitude and solidarity to every dockworker, port worker and trade union taking action. Your struggle is also our struggle, and your solidarity strengthens the hope of our people for a future of freedom, dignity and return.
